"JBoss AS 5 Development" manages to be an excellent read for people
using JBoss as platform for developing Enterprise applications.
The book is
clear and well written and the examples are interesting, so it isn't boring at
all reading them and I could find quite a lot of things that I thought to know
but in practice they are quite different.
Recommended for all JBoss believers
and non believers!

To be honest when my boss ordered the book for me I had expectations that it
would turn out just as few concepts of JBoss 5 plus lots of information just
read in other JBoss books.
I was wrong since the book expands the way you use
the application server in many ways. The Web Service section chapter for example
is really awesome, I could run flawlessly the examples with Eclipse after many
weeks of struggling with weird errors on the client side.
In general the book
is focused on the Eclipse environment and JBoss tools to grant the maximum
development speed, I wish I could find some side notes for Netbeans users as
well but it seems that the JBoss community is focused mainly with Eclipse
nowadays.
A must buy book.

Hello,
I'm evaluating to buy the book- I'd like to know if it includes any
information how to add/remove services and thus creating custom server
configurations ?
Thanks

Hi Rainer,
you can find a detailed explanation on the second chapter of
it on the second chapter of the book, in the section "Creating
custom configurations".

Ciao Luca,
a Roma potresti dare un'occhiata in qualche libreria
universitaria, anche se ad onor del vero i testi della Packt publishing
essendo molto specializzati e talvolta di nicchia si trovano
difficilmente in Italia. In ogni caso presso il sito della Packtpub http://www.packtpub.com รจ possibile acquistarlo senza spese di spedizioni.
ciao

One of the things I really liked about this book was how many of the advice
could easily be applied to other application servers. The main reason why I
think this book is awesome is because it is great for developers who want to
tweak and understand their application server. Many developers are use to having
other people setup their application in production environments, but with this
book you'll gain the confidence to configure your application and server for a
production environment.
